Existence. How small we are.
So I just finished my computer security exam, feelin' pretty bummed because I couldn't figure out the cipher text.. Didn't study enough. But alas check this out.
http://workshop.chromeexperiments.com/stars/ "Its a visual/interactive representation of the milky way. The information is derived from multiple sources of which 1 of them is from an actual space mission commissioned by the ESA. It’s recommended to use a mouse rather than your trackpad, scrolling through light-years can be a pain." I nearly cried after zooming all the way, it just looks so cool. Yeah. I'm a bitch and think that life is pretty much like the end of the first Men in black movie with the alien and the marbles of galaxies. But seeing a visual representation is like woah. Don't forget to press the Tour button on the top left to be mindgasmed. |
Quite.

yep
boohoo, we are insignificant deal with it |
This isn't the whole universe. Just the Milky Way Galaxy.

Holy crap. |
If it's any consolation that means that even if you turn out to be a colossal fuck up it doesn't really matter in the end.
|
The whole idea of the universe, well how big it is, and that its expanding or whatever, really ****s with my head.
I can't remember the video but I saw something on youtube that compared our sun to some of the other stars, and that ours is like a small dot compared. I'm useless with astronomy but it really interests me... And then there's black holes, compressing matter into almost nothing  |
Old post is old.
and now I'm dying inside that little bit quicker... |

Click on the question mark bottom right.

Not to mention if you go into the size of the whole universe the size of the sun compared to the size of the galaxy all of sudden isn't that bug of a difference comparatively.

i think you gave TS a heart attack |
200 billion galaxies, most larger than the milky way. That's a lot. I'm gonna die soon anyways
|
Funny this is posted now. They just found the farthest known galaxy...13.3 billion light years away.

The awesome thing about that is that the light we are seeing from it is 13.3 billion years old |
I prefer this for getting the scale of things. Goes right from a Planck length all the way to the size of the universe.

Take note that it says estimated size of the universe. We are fully aware that it could be much larger not to mention expanding. |
Speaking of things that are small, what's up with that video?
The bar was the size of the screen, but the video was just larger than UG's avatars... |
My band just played our best gig ever and I'm pissed as ****. Everything else seems irrelevant right now.
But in the morning I shall feel as insignificant as a small ant trying to eat a cookie. |
