Best practice method for this specific issue?

Earlier this month a friend and I started an Industrial, electronic rock project out his home studio. He pointed out to me that I have a nagging problem with the consistency of my rhythm playing. In some songs I will start out fine, but about 3/4ths of the way though a song I'll start to slow down by about 5-10 BPM.

The problem is that it doesn't seem to matter what the tempo is. It could be a fast paced song or a slower one, but I will always start out on the beat and wind up behind it by song's end. This is easily fixed in post-production but I want to be able to fix this before we start playing live. (Won't be for a long while)

Could this be a tension issue? Obviously I'm going to spend more time practicing all my parts at much slower tempos with a metronome and work them back up to speed again. But that's what I was already doing. Any extra advice?

You answered your own question: practice with a metronome. That's all it is. You need to improve your timing and there's nothing better for that than playing with a metronome.

"That's all it is" was the type of answer I was looking for, thank you. I'm no stranger to metronome practice, I just wanted to float this out there to see if I was overlooking something. If you don't think I am than I'm in pretty good shape.
