stuck in the same blues...

So everything bluesy I know is either in e or a, not a huge deal, but it gets really old. I need help figuring out how to play in a different key, but I have no clue where to start. Any advice out there? Anything would be greatly appreciated!

The great thing about blues is you can change the key of the progression very easily. You dont have to play in the same key as the orginal. A blues band I was in used to change it around all the time depending on who was singing that night. Switch up the key your jamming on and make yourself play out of the box. Instead of picking up your guitar and noodling in E or A messing around in B flat minor or something different.

But how would I go about doing that? If I'm using barre chords, do I just change the chords and use the same pattern or is it more complicated then that?

You need to learn some theory

Pretty much just put it in the other key and keep the same progression. Ie if your playing 12 bar blues I7 - IV7 - V7 in the key of A just move it to another key lets use D as a example the chords would be D7 - G7 - A7. You can apply it to any key. Theory would help with the transposing but its pretty much that simple.

Ook that makes perfect sense, much appreciated! Thanks a million!
