This just happened to wonder across my Craigslist for $700, I couldn't resist, always wanted a Mark, and this definitely does not disappoint. It is one of the rack mount heads, and the guy I got it from gave me the padded case with it. So far, I like! This isn't nearly as daunting as the Mark Vs I have tried to dial in, definitely a lot more intuitive. The clean channel is pretty sweet, nice fat tone, great for rippin' some chicken pickin' or some old school southern-style blues. Very clear, round tone. I have only turned on the rhythm channel one time, so I can't really comment :haha: The lead channel is AWESOME! It can do pissed off super-scooped Cannibal Corpse, but hit some tasty midrange chunk that'll just knock you flat on your ass. Ultimately, this is what I was wanting from the V3, just super versatile, but convincing. I still haven't found THE sound for this channel, but I have found some good ones. Just thought I would share, thanks for reading! |
Awesome find! HNM3D
|
very nice :)
|
Sweet!!!!
Did you ditch the V3?  |
Oh yeah man, the V3 has long since disappeared. I traded that and a 412 for a VHT pitbull 45.
|
Needs more Timtams and Jack Daniels.
HNAD! :D |
Very, very nice! I'm actually really jealous you got it for that price. Those rack models are the same as the head versions, right? Just diff enclosure?
 |
If Cath wants to make me a Mesa Clone for what I got this for, then I will buy it :haha:
I have a feeling Cath would approve very highly anyhow, I get the feeling a Mark is on his GAS list. EDIT: ^ Yeah, the rack unit is the same, except the guy I bought it from forgot to bring the reverb tank with him :( I didn't feel like waiting for him to go home and get it, so I said the hell with it. Other than that, this amp is exactly like a normal head. |
Way simpler than my mark V. Holy crap it has so little knobs... 1/12 the amount as a V.
Rack mount is petty cool. Your graphic EQ is just as it should be for a mark. |

I might confuse him with the grumpy old tech on a Swedish forum now, but I think he was going to build one. |

Yeah, I realized that people weren't kidding, ridiculous mids. The lack of knobs is nicely made up for with the fact that pretty much every single knob is push/pull, so it isn't completely simple. ^ and I think Cath was talking about making a Mark I  |
Freaking love the tones people pull out of the Mark series. Really, they're all great.
HNAD! If you ever want to sell it ;) |
I'll give you a holler. I really think the only way I am ditching this thing is if I get a Mark V though. I really love the Mark distortion, just so rad.
|
Best of the Mark series
|
It definitely is pretty sweet, thanks for the props
Just played through it a bit more and I think I have the sound just about right. I really need a footswitch, I can't get one tone that covers lead and rhythm well enough. |
wow, nice nice mark III.
HNAD  |
aww hell yes.
|
Mainstream brand is mainstream.
|
Get out of here Michael Weston, you cheap James Bond knockoff. Nobody cares about you or USA anymore.
Thanks guys  |
