Speaker Cabinet ReDesign
Hey all,

So I joined the forums to initially research about speaker cabs and now, for an engineering class in my school, am considering redesigning speaker cabinets. My issue is that I play at both large and small venues, and so I have a giant 2x12 cab and Mesa Boogie head. When I play small gigs, though, all I need is a single speaker and my large cabinet can't even fit on stage.

I was wondering, you guys with separate speaker cabs, do you have this same issue?

Also, if you have the time I would really appreciate it if you could take this quick survey. There is no forum on surveymonkey, so I hope this is allowed. Mods, if it isn't I'll take it down asap. Thanks so much!!!

When I've been lazy I've taken my 2x12 combo to small gigs but it doesn't really save any space on stage over a 4x12 because it has a similar footprint, it's just easier to load into the car. Where are you playing that you can't fit a 2x12 on the stage? Why don't you just turn it on it's side?

In retrospect I did word that poorly, there was no stage at those types of events, I was thinking of small school events and tiny coffeehouse type events. Every time though, I would have loved just carrying a smaller, lighter speaker for easier transportation and storage. The real issue with owning a 4x12 is transport and weight. I am hoping of solving the issue of wanting both larger cabs and smaller ones for different suited events while not having to break the bank. That way you could own a 4x12 but also be able to take a small, compact 1x12 cab with you for smaller events where it would be annying to carry around a 2x12 or 4x12 cabinet.

do you want recommendations on decent, cheap 1x12s? I don't gig but they're definitely easier to lift and move around and they take up a bit less space.
