Official UG TinyChat Thread II: Now in 3D! (Not Really)

With original regulars getting older and real life starting to take over for many of them, Ultimate-Guitar TinyChat is not as active as it was in previous months. While nearly everyone still pops in once an a while, there are definitely periods of inactivity. It has been decided that a new thread needs to be created.

The reputation of UGTC seems to be that we are "cliquey" and "elitist". That is not the case at all. Most of the regular members of UGTC are really good friends and have even met one another on various meets and roadtrips. We may talk a bit "inside" every so often, but we do not do that to intentionally alienate newcomers or try to get rid of them. There are a couple users (namely Aaron) that like to antagonize newbies once and a while, but it is usually done in jest and there is no meanness intended by it. A lot of the regulars are generally friendly people who want to interact with you.

Saying that: Don't be a dick. What you put in, you get out. The rules below will explain it a bit more, but if you enter for the first or second time acting like a little shit, do not expect to be staying very long.

So yeah, new users are welcomed and encouraged to join UGTC! There have been some GREAT memories and a lot of fun from UGTC, so let's keep it alive.

The link and rules are below:

Rules For Users Entering UGTC For The First Time

1. We are not your friends. Not originally. Things you say and do with your close friends are, more often than not, really, really dickish to complete strangers. Do not come into chat and immediately start making jokes about people, or hitting on people, or any things you'd not do to a stranger in real life.

2. Treat others with respect. Any unnecessarily mean statements will usually result in a ban, be it temporary to say "chill out", or permanent (72 hours)

3. I cannot stress this enough: PERMANENT BANS ARE ONLY 72 HOURS. NOT PERMANENT. It isn't the end of the world if you get banned.

4. Don't complain to UG mods about petty stuff that happens in TC, they have enough to worry about. "B'awww, X was mean to me!" is not a good enough reason to complain to UG. "Hey, X is going to try to do something very obviously against UG rules, on UG" is a good enough reason.

With that out of the way, some more considerations:

1. We are people. Most regulars are good friends with each other. Making one of us uncomfortable will usually make everyone not like you. If you think someone is getting annoyed, I suggest you stop.

2. Mods will joke ban from time to time. If you see you got banned, refresh a few times. If you're still banned, then it was for a good reason, or something happened to make the mod unable to ban you immediately. You could make ONE post in the thread asking why...but don't make a big deal out of it. And be nice about it...

3. We usually use real names or nicknames. UG names are fine. Random words like "lol", "wut", "hey" are not.

4. As a rule of thumb do not default yourself to open mic. It gets annoying when we have everyone's cams broadcasting their ambient noise. Please use push to talk.

5. With that said, one guitar playing on open mic at a time. Wait your turn to play.

Just keep on this track, and you'll probably become good friends, as we are all generally nice people.

This one has webcams. Usually.

Sounds fun, I might do it sometime.
If nobody minds.

Last time I was on ugtc was over a year ago

ali.guitarkid7 01-03-2013 10:52 PM

Yeah, someday I'll join too. But TC still doesn't work for me.

I came in once in the old one I think. It was quite awkward. People were talking about video games and I don't play much of those.
