Making metal version of pop song?

I think this is where I should post this. Basically I am wanting to make metal versions of pop songs. I was wondering if I should play all the notes an octave lower from the original song? I really want to try this but I don't really know where to start. I have the tabs/score for the songs I want to do this to. Any help would be appreciated. If you want examples of what I am trying to achieve, search Eddie Kim on YouTube.
Thanks

Be... creative...?

It's not like there's that much of a formula for these things.

I decided to do the reverse and made a pop version of a metal song so here it is:

just try stuff out and do what sounds good to you. strangers on the internet who can't hear what you're doing aren't going to be able to make that kind of judgment for you.

It's not hard at all. Just copy the chord progressions, throw in some riffs, and scream shit. More importantly, though, the "novelty metal versions of pop songs" thing is played out. There are enough third-rate "parodies" out there already.

Children of Bodom have several covers that venture outside of metal - maybe you can listen to them to get an idea of what you think you should be doing.

I would look up the notes played in the song and play those on guitar as a power chord, if you want a example of a "transitioned" song as I like to call it, look up "pop goes punk"
