tbh saw this thread on the ug home page and entered just to say that without reading the op.

no actually it's set in america but it's a kazakh "journalist" looking to help bring american culture back kazakhstan and as a result improve it as it's portrayed as being a really ****ing backwards nation in the movie..

i actually did think it was a really shitty third world country up until just now because of that movie :haha:

I'm pretty sure he just chose Kazakhstan as an arbitrary nation that the average american wouldn't be familiar with. You don't see it in the news often. It makes the depictions of it in the movie more believable.

It's in Kazakhstan and it's pretty much what made Americans know of the countries' existence.

I don't understand how a vacant city can exist, especially in a country as heavily populated as China. Is the city too remote? Why doesn't anyone live there?
