SD AHB-1 Blackouts in an Epiphone Les Paul Standard?
 

I want to beef up my old Epi Les Paul Standard a bit and thought about replacing the stock pickups with AHB-1 Blackouts.

I tried to google the answer to my question, but it just left me confused. I will bring my guitar to a shop anyway to let them install the pickups, but the question is: is the Les Paul built for active pickups or will they have to do extensive work on the guitar itself before they can install them?

They're gonna have to drill a new cavity for the battery(ies). At least I'm pretty sure. I own an LP Standard and it's pretty cramped in there.

All it needs is rewiring. The battery can and often does just go in the control cavity.

I've got them on my S470 and the battery actually fits in the control cavity, so I think you won't have any problem fitting it on a LP.

It should fit no problem. If your feeling especially handy you can mount an easy access battery hatch in the control cavity cover.
