High E bending upsets G string...
 

so, on my MIM Strat when I bend the high e string say on 20th fret a whole step: 20->22 c to d

i mute and catch the b and g strings with my bending finger (middle finger)
the bend sounds fine and clean

but when i release it, especially the G string "unhooks" and makes a sound that dirties the clean bend. it doesnt get caught in my nails

what seems to happen is: the b and g string touch each other and must create some sort of tension which then resolves itself by unattaching each other...

how can i avoid this? i seem to push the b string into the G string while bending the E string... bloody hell

yes but i just doont understand how it's done

Assuming you are right-handed, try and mute the G-string with the lower part of you right thumb, or if the bend is NOT in quick succession of other notes then you can easily just put the tip of your right thumb on it. Maybe try "Rolling your fingers back", so your fingernail aren't in line with the fretboard so they don't get caught in the string.

Watch this:

You can mute the strings above (or below, if you're thinking in terms of pitch) the one you are bending by putting the index finger of your fretting hand on top of the strings that are above the one you are bending. You can do this in preparation. Just put your index finger on the strings that need to be muted, lightly touch it, don't press down on it.. Then bend the note.
