OD pedal for boosting

I'm wanting to use an OD to boost my Carvin V3M.
It's between the Maxon OD808 and Ibanez TS808
I hear they're virtually the same deal.
I would prefer a Maxon, however,
I found a TS808 for $100 though, So I'm kindly leaning towards it.
Opinions?

up to you really. the maxon od808 is the ts10. there's not a massive difference between any of them.

Grab that Ibanez

You could just get an Ibanez TS-7 or one of those Joyos for like $25. It's the exact same circuit in all tubescreamers...

Perverockstar69 02-08-2013 05:12 PM

Not fully exact but almost the same anyway.

Well yeah. Semantics lol. I mean a couple of the resistors are different, but the circuit itself is the same, and that's by far the most important part.

I mean, if you want to pay an extra $100+ for a couple resistors, well.

I just picked up Digitech Hardwire CM-2. It has an active EQ (Cut/Boots) and 2 settings for classic and modern. I like it better than my Maxon OD808. I use it as a fat boost/EQ - no gain. It's a great pedal.

I got mine at GC for $49.

As do I, that's including my TS9. The CM-2 makes all other TS clones sound, including modded screamers, ridiculously weak and thin.

I ended up grabbing the Ibanez. I dont notice a significant change, but I haven't got to extensively play with it yet either >:)

Danelectro Cool Cat Transparent Overdrive. Treble/bass knob, volume, and gain. That's what I use as a gain/volume boost on my board. I just picked it up a couple of days ago and I kind of fell in love with the thing.

Agreed, the Cool Cat pedals are amazing value. Sounds like a Timmy, without the waiting time and price tag.

TIMMEH!
