I find blues extremely boring when it's bluesrock/pure blues.

I find blues to be an excuse for people that play guitar poorly. |

that too. boring lyrics, boring rhythms. "it's all about the feeling man!!!" Yeah well, it still bores me to death no matter how much your baby left you this morning. |

I "feel" incredibly irritated by the fact that all of their bends are flat. Does that count? |

His playing sounds pretty spot on to the old pre-World War II blues "masters" though. |
I like most all the great classic Delta guys... Son House and Robert Johnson and Skip James and all those cats.
However, there are also a lot of guys from the revival era that are great too; the crowd of young white guys who followed Gary Davis around... David Bromberg and Dave Van Ronk and many others. Some fine contemporary traditional-style players as well. Keb Mo, Guy Davis.... Lots more. I got the free trial of XM radio with my new car, and the ONLY channel I found to listen to is the "Bluesville" channel. |
George "Harmonica" Smith is pretty cool.
|
Brian Fallon.
|
Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf if no one mentioned them yet.

FTFY Chuck ****in' Berry. He's a more rock 'n' roll bluesman, but he is one of the originals. And was a BAUS. Also, John Lee Hooker (pretty sweet name). |
