WTF? Where is my tab?!?!

Since there are a huge amount of threads such as "Where is my tab?" "Tab rejection reason!!" and so on -- one cool dude (emad) has suggested to stick this thread.

Our common reasons are as following:

As you know, we have a tab pre-approval system in place, where UG users can vote for tabs that was submitted to the archive. Moreover, there could be more reasons for tab deletion such as:

- We have a similar tab in the archives
- There are too many versions of the tab already
- It was inaccurate or not formatted
- It was intro or solo tab while we already have tabs for the whole song

Edited by emad:

Also there are some common reasons for rejecting your tab(s):

Naming:

-Do not add "Ver 2" Or "2" or "100% correct"or"New version" or something in song title.
-Check your song name and the artist name for spelling before you push submit button.

-Do not add type of your tab in song title like: "Hells bells Bass tab". Just select the type of your tab in submit your tab page.
-If you're trying to submit a tab for a live version of a song, just put the word "Live" after song name with no other words. You can add more descriptions in your tab.

Formatting:

(Guitar/Bass tabs)

-Always follow our template in submit your tab page for guitar and bass tabs.

(Chords)

-Put the chords over the lyrics and make sure it would be aligned well(use preview button )

(Guitar pro/Power tabs)

-Fix all incomplete bars.
-Add all necessary details in score information and performance note such as:
a.link to the website(For unknown bands)
b.Link to the song(youtube link or something if it was necessary)
c.Credits

(GP/PT exported text tabs)

-Since not all ugers are using those softwares,we usually approve those tabs,BUT:

a.You should give a credit to original tabber.
b.You should set apart intro/verses/chorus/solo/etc.

Here is the Tab Help/FAQ related to the this topic:

A Basic Guide To Submitting Tabs

Article:

A Beginner's Guide To Making Tabs And Chords

-------------------------------------------------------------------

If you still have any problem with rejecting your tab and you're gonna post here,
You have to mention:

1. Song title
2. Artist name
3. Which version(GP,PT,Regular text tab).
4.Your tab must be attached to your post

Posts that don't include this information will be deleted with no response.

Wherever I say post the link to the tpa, I mean post the link to your tab in Tabs Pending Approval page. If you don't have enough tabs to access tpa, Go to this page , there's an 'edit' link right next to your tab which takes you to your tab in tpa.

Post your comments here. we'll try to answer everyone.

I submitted a guitar pro tab, but it got denied. However, I only knew form looking on my profile, I didn't get an e-mail telling me why. I PM'd Dyuha but got no reply, so I will reprduce the PM here:

I found out it was denied by looking in the contributions section in my profile, but I have recieved no email telling me it had been rejected or why. As far as I know, it does not compromise the standard reasons for rejection:

- We have a similar tab in the archives
- There are too many versions of the tab already
- It was inaccurate or not formatted
- It was intro or solo tab while we already have tabs for the whole song

The only possible one I could think of was the first one, but I believe mine was a significant improvement.

If I could at least have a reason it was rejected, or permission to submit the tab again and see what happens, that would be great.

Thanks, Sam

Did you look at this page? Wasn't your tab close to these existing versions?

sam i am 03-22-2008 12:57 PM

Yes I did. It was close in that it was meant to be the same song.... but the very main riff that repeats throughout the song was wrong on their tabs, as well as many other things.

punkforlife93 03-22-2008 06:44 PM

I submitted a tab of Broadcasting by Comeback Kid.

And it didn't get accepted.

It was the full version, and there were no other tabs like it...

Angel Martin 03-22-2008 08:00 PM

I submitted two versions of a tab of a tune called "Bois de Merveilles" by a band called Malice Mizer. The first was a Guitar Pro tab with an acoustic guitar arrangement. The second was the chords and lyrics. Both have status "D," which I assume means "denied."

There is no duplicate of this song on the site, it was a complete song (not a solo or intro), and it was painstakingly formatted. Was there perhaps a problem with it being an arrangement for acoustic guitar (the original song has a string arrangement)?

Thank you for the feedback.

Did you see the comments for your tab in tpa?Maybe you should resubmit it.But remember!Do not add acoustic to the song title and about your chords,It shouldn't be like(For example):
Intro:
A Em G A
Chorus:
F#m Bm.....
Put the chords over the lyrics and be sure it's right formatted and resubmit it.

Maybe we should add some lines to main post in this thread.

I posted a basically completely flawless tab for "Who's Got A Match" by Biffy Clyro with 3 more parts than the current one (which is innacurate and poor by the way) tabbed (including vocals and lyrics) and it was in GP4 so that everyone could play it and it got rejected. Theres is only one other version and as i sed, its poor!

Angel Martin 03-23-2008 10:38 PM

Thanks for the info, Emad. I wasn't aware of the TPA page. Unfortunately, it says I must have had at least three tabs approved before I can access it, so I can't see any comments. It does seem that adding "acoustic" to the song title got it rejected, though. Right now it has status "W."

The chords tab was perfectly formatted, with lyrics and all -- but, I did add an explanatory comment on top, pointing out some things for novice players. I suppose that must've been the problem. I'll resubmit it without the comments. May they figure out their own chord voicings!

If you added vocals track and it got rejected, you can resubmit it.But if you just added lyrics to the current tab it won't be accepted.

Yes you're allowed to see just comments of your tab in tpa. When status of your tab is"W" you can use the edit link in your contribution to post your own comment for your tab and see other's.

Well, that would be just great except for one thing.

I have the whole tab.

That's just the intro.

emad 03-25-2008 09:15 AM

^Submit it again.
