It's not the best idea. Simply because it's wood and therefore there's a high probability of warping if water can get past the sealant. Not to mention the electronics.

You may need to adjust the truss rod. I'm not a fan of touching the truss rod myself as it's a delicate operation that could seriously mess up your guitar. Ask a technician/luthier for a proper setup...

I would say that the pickups may still pick up the frequencies but there'd be an extremely weak signal. May even cause unwanted dissonance. Not sure.
