You have a tube in one of your later gain stages that has went bad. Thats why it only squels when its on ultra.

Go buy a new preamp tube....and plug it in until you find the bad tube.

Its an EL84 based circuit that sounds pretty crappy IMO.

Go with the Traynor. The EL34's in it will make you smile.

While the DSL heads are nice, the combo is EL84 based and really not very good IMO.

Also, most of the tone in that clip is coming from the OCD...so don't expect it to sound the same.

Theres nothing wrong with your amp. When you use the direct out to go to the PA it bypasses the speakers in your amp.

If you want to use your amp and have it come out of the PA mic it.

What amp costs 3000 dollars?

Most tube amps are around 500-1000...pretty reasonable price and about what you'd pay for a SS amp that can put out the same volume and power.

Gain past 2-3 oclock on any amp is totally useless. It doesn't make it any heavier, it just adds fuzz and hiss as you hit...
