Set the volume to max, gain to 0 and tone to your preference. This will boost the input signal and add a bit of compression and sustain plus you get a little extra punch out of the amp.

If you have the extra money, I suggest getting a OD pedal like the Digitech Bad Monkey to use with the amp. You set the OD as a clean boost and it can add that extra punch to you sound.

The Vox VT is a good suggestion, but I wouldn't waist the money on the 2x12. The 1x12 will be plenty for your needs.

The JVM is IMO a mediocre amp, not bad at anything, but not great either. The JVM410JS is soposedly a really nice amp, but I have not played one yet.

The JCM800 reissue is a nice amp if you want...
