Guitar strings are personal preference. 6, 7, or 8 string - doesn't matter. Whatever you feel comfortable with is the "proper" string gauge.

Really Krank amps are either a hit or a miss with most people. They have a very unique tone the people seem to either love or hate. The Same applies to the Carvin - its a very low/low mids heavy amp....

It's funny because the Vypyr's clean and low gain tones sound like crap. I would suggest a Vox VT for the tones the TS is looking for before I'd suggest a Vypyr.
