Just make sure to attach the logo plate BEHIND the metal grill. I think it looks terrible with them on top of the grill on the outside. |

Yes, the V12 Legend is what Fryette recommends as a similar option to the P50. I have a set but have never heard P50's in the flesh. I now use Mesa Black Shadow MC90's with my Pittbull UL. |

The midrange bark and snap from the GB's will help the Fireball immensly at "band" volumes. I know that amp has a lot of lowend, but it can be reduced with the bass control of course. Also, your cab... |

Best way to use a boost pedal is gain at 2/10, level at 8/10, and the tone dial to taste. Turning the gain on the OD pedal completely off thins out your tone and sucks the life out of it. Have it at... |

You have a vintage series Marshall cab so it has V30's right? If so, then your tone will change with increased volume. Eq settings at lower volume will not work at high volume levels. With my V30's I... |

Nah, I've played passives my whole life and recently started playing actives. Cold and sterile are generalizations perpetuated by EMG haters. Often as a result of visual labels. Much like the digital... |

I think the Google search function got a serious workout with all this "knowledge" about modeling being thrown around. Internet Einsteins abound in this thread! |

I get better clean, rock and metal tones with my active EMGs than I ever did with passive humbuckers. I recommed the 81b/60n set. I think the only thing EMG's suffer form is stereotypes. |

Ah right, I missed that. Well a Swamp Thang will do just fine if more bass is desired. Those are really thick sounding speakers. Serious thump. |

Yeah, I get that. What I actually found works best is I put a preamp tube that sounds kind of weak and bland in the Lead gain spot. Odd I know, but the 6505 is such a beast on it's own that I found... |

Ok Offworld92, although you somewhat rambled there, your original statement about the JSX and 6505 ended up being contradictory to what your follow up education piece stated about your views on metal... |

I don't know man, my JSX has much tighter palm mutes than my 6505. The JSX is an overall tighter amp. The 6505 just nastier sounding. The only amp that rivals my Engls tight palm mutes is my JSX. |

Congrats! I prefer my 6505 without a boost too. Have you tried the Lead channel much at all? That's what I use for my main rhythm tone, with the pre gain at 5.5, lows at 8, mids at 4, treble at 8,... |

I like my Polytune. I only use the needle mode though. Don't like the poly mode. Almost bought a Pitchblack but couldn't jive with the cheap feel and lack of weight to it. |

Oh yeah, mine has JJ pre's in it for nearly 8 years now. Best tubes for the amp. Worst thing you can do is use EH, Sovtek or Tungsol tubes in the first three spots. Things will get shrill, plastic... |
