Agree with the above - I did the same thing with my Martin. Take to a luthier you will not regret and it is surprisingly good value (£75 in my case)

FG 700s are about £180 over here but if you check on ebay you should be able to find one at a lower price if you wait - I picked up one with a soft case for £95 as a present for some one recently...

If you have a cheapish classical it may have a very high action making it difficult to play, especially barre chords. Also if you want to play pop and rock then a classical is probably not the best...
