Yeah, I find it easier to have one person as the "director" of where the song goes. They may not write all the parts exactly, but they can explain to the group what their ideas are in a song.

How do you collaborate with others when writing a song?

How do members in your project communicate ideas with other members? Do you present them at band practice? Record them and let others listen offline? Use some sort of music tabulation program and...

Thanks guys. So I take it the Prophecy basses are pretty well-regarded?

Fender Prophecy II questions

I'm a guitar player of about 10 years, but am relatively new to playing bass. I picked up a used Fender Prophecy II a few years ago and just assumed it was a low-end, beginner bass because the action...

Advice on hollow-body electric (~$300)

I'm looking into getting a hollow-body electric for my dad this Christmas. He used to play when he was younger, and I believe he used to have a Guild electric hollow-body, and has always wanted a...

Try Bran Barr (especially latest release) and Aes Dana. Neither of them are particularly brutal, but it's celtic folk (tin whistles etc in both bands) fused with death/melodeath/black metal. Also,...

We used the pots that came with it, and the appropriate diagram that came with the EMGs.

We checked the wiring again, turned out there was indeed a slight mix-up. Now the volume, toggle, and tone...

Volume/Tone/Pickup toggle not working with EMG 81/85 replacement

Today, I swapped out the stock pickups of my Schecter C1 to EMG 81/85s. The tone, volume, and pickup toggle all don't work. When I plug the guitar in, the volume is on and sound comes out, however it...

Country isn't really my cup of tea, so I can't critique the songwriting as much as I'd like to be able to, but it's a pretty solid track. The guitar sounds a little low and thin, so perhaps you could...

I think the song is very well written. Pianos were great and added a lot, the whispery vocals were pretty cool, and the growls were ok. Were you using vocal effects? At 1:36, it sounds kind of like a...

Drums are kind of minimalist, which may be the effect you were going for. The rhythm can get a little boring at times due to simplicity of rhythm and drums, although both get better as the song...

As Gyroscope said, it's kind of generic sounding, adding some guitar leads or changing up the rhythm guitar from power chords could help that a bit. The vocals are also kind of cheesy sounding, but...

[Thrash Metal]Quadriceptus[C4C]

Just a melodic/exotic thrash metal song, using a few choirs etc. trying to make it more epic. Right now, the song ends pretty abruptly, but I'd like feedback on what I have so far.

If anyone has any...

Old school thrash is my thing, and this definitely gives that vibe. I'm actually not a fan of the melodic bit/clean vocals - it basically ruins the old-school groove. The harsh vox really aren't bad,...

Disjecta Membra - [melodic thrash w/robot vox] C4C

Guitar isn't as thick and punchy as I would like - advice to improve that is...
