Why go for the higher watt, more expensive amps if it's mostly for home use? AC15 or a TM18 combo would be fine. Trust me, I've had an AC15 and currently use a TM18 head and cab, they're loud enough...

Like it's been said, a thicker pick is what you really need. Try Dunlop Jazz III's to start with, practically industry standard. Then move up to thicker picks if you feel like it.
