Neck pickup for sure. He doesn't have to much gain on his sound for midnight (clean gain) so I'd say have it at about 4. Treble maybe 6-7 and mids at 4-5 and bass 4-5. This is a general setting...

I agree with madpickin that it's a 470. I just scored a 570 off ebay for about 400 bucks like new condition.

Well, I am EXTREMELY picky about the necks I play and for me they must always be a satin finish or a tung oil finish. I would buy a Jackson soloist myself but I am not a fan of standard neck joints...

Ibanez, generally, has probably some of the most thinnest, flattest necks on the market (RG, JEM, S series). ESP and Jackson have great necks too. Only problem with their bolt-ons are the neck heels...

TBH, it's not easy to have a lot of feel in playing fast. But things you could try is to progress with the rhythm underneath (assuming that you're talking about lead). Hear the chords or the notes...
