Pedal Reduces Volume

I've got a problem. My amp is 100 watts, but whenever I connect it through my Little Big Muff, the volume reduces a ton so that I can hardly hear. It plays at full volume when it's off, so I assume...

Can someone suggest me a song/solo/riff to improve my legato picking? I'm pretty experienced at guitar, but a beginner with this. I'll be fine with any kind of music, but not much of a fan for death...

I wanna play bass so I can get a better understanding on song structure, and I heard playing bass helps out a ton if you're looking for a band. And I like playing rhythm.
