I think the Godin Redlines are pretty nice. The Redline 1 and 2 seem to fit the bill although it's a 24 3/4" scale. They usually cost 300-400$ used.

As someone who owns a lot of Fenders I will say they deliver a whole lot of bang for your buck. They sound good, play great and look awesome for a guitar of its price range and more.

Out of those I would definitely say the Blacktop Telecaster. The humbuckers are going to be more versatile and are going to be better for high gain applications.
