Cathbard, thanks for the info, Ill play around and see what happens. I never thought of using an EQ to attenuate my amp, great idea, so simple!

So is that all a clean boost does? Boost the volume of my guitar's signal into an amp?

So I could use the "volume" knob on an MXR 10-band EQ pedal as a clean boost as well?

Can I use my Digitech RP250 as a clean boost?

I want a clean boost to both drive my tube amp tubes for high gain, and also at time to provide a volume boost for solos. I already have a digitech RP250 pedal, but don't want to use the...

Are Celestion V30 speakers known to have deep bass?

I've played a Traynor YCS50 (http://traynoramps.com/guitar/ycs/product/ycs50/) 50-watt 1x12 combo amp, & it has the most bass of any tube 1x12 guitar combo I can find (i'm looking for a lot of bass)....

Which is the #2 best thrash band ever? (assuming Metalica is #1)

Most would agree Metallica is the #1 thrash band of all-time (they headlined the Big 4 festivals, so 'nuff said). Let's not argue that. Instead, who do you think is the #2 best thrash metal band of...

Why do my pickups not work when I change strings?

I recently bought a used Yamaha RGX 112P electric guitar from my sister, made around 1995. She bought it new originally, and made no mods to the guitar. Pickups are stock (no clue what they are),...

Well if amps are rated from clean/low-gain to ultra high-gain, I'd say it's high gain. You can play metal on it stock with no pedals, but it's not a 6505.
