I find tab is pretty useless unless you're using it in something like Guitar Pro, which is great because it shows you the standard notation and the tab. But regular text tabs are not very useful...

That's true but as you said the song doesn't really call for it. Most of the time its simply power chords without the octave and the solo has a lot of bends which the pinky naturally does not excel...
