I've always thought Planet X sounded very comic book-y, too. :haha

If Nemesis has an earth-like planet, it wouldn't be a very welcoming place considering how cold and dark nemesis is. :D

Not all comets have the same orbit or come from the same place.

I mean, I doubt the astrophysicists that theorized the Oort cloud just forgot to consider comet trajectory. :haha

Nothing about the orbit of long period comets disproves the existence of the Oort cloud.

Much much much much too small, and much too far away to boot. It's a tiny planetoid, 1000 km in diameter. Which makes it that much more impressive that we found it. Pluto was ruled out as a "Planet...

There are lots of theories like this. The nemisis theory, planet X, etc, but none of them are consistent (meaning, they can perhaps explain one niche thing, but fall apart when you look at their...

The nemesis theory is not needed to explain the orbit or tilt of any other planet, but it's needed to explain Uranus? It is close enough and massive enough to impact the tilt of Uranus, but happened...

The Oort cloud is, what 3 light years from the sun roughly? WISE would have detected anything within 10 light years of the sun down to 150 K (this is brown dwarf range, WAY cooler than red dwarfs...

We're pretty good at detecting the existence of infrared objects like red dwarfs now. The fact that we haven't yet found one in our own solar system suggests to me that this theory probably doesn't...

Him not having a paypal account seems sketchy to me. I don't know why having a paypal account would necessitate selling on ebay. I'd be responding to that message with everything you just said above....

I don't get it. When there's ice and it's below freezing it's not like it's going to go anywhere overnight. I think they just delay the decision so students don't act like jack asses. :haha

Back to our rectifier discussion last night, right now I'm simulating a boost converter and controller that I've designed that has less ripple at 800V than that diode/cap has at 7.5 V. :haha

I guess it's protection by rectification, in this case.

But while it's a pretty bad rectifier, it's an even worse protection circuit. What if the diode fails open? Well then it's not protecting...

If you simulate what Cath posted, there's no "Vin/Vout", right? The Vin, an ideal voltage source in simulation, is being put directly on the 9V rail. There's just 1 node and ground.
