you just need to very lightly rough up the surface or take the "gloss" of by using scotch brite pad or fine grit wet dry sand paper, don't press to hard because you don't want to take anything off....

no not usually.....ok just read your post properly, yes the pick ups/electronics will fit into the RG pickguard (but the strat pickguard won't fit the RG body)

again you don't need to but depending on how light the wood is the oils in you skin will darken it in the patches you play the most. Lemon oil is a very good option to treat the wood with to help...
