A good guitar comes with good tone wood, which costs. So here's why cheap guitars won't sound as good and rich as expensive...

Just the fact that the body is thicker than on a normal SG should resolve this issue entirely. I've added some weights in the controll cavity of my SG, don't think it's more than maybe 300g, and now...

I use a BJ a lot live, mostly I'll set it so somewhere around 5 on the input and around 4 on the master. Still clean, and plenty loud. Not for heavy metal, but everything else should work fine.

I do think it depends on the Type of music more than anything.
It also depends on your fellow musicians, especially the drummer. If he can't play at a moderate level then yes 15W will be to little....
