If you're looking at the DL4, maybe try the Line6 echo park delay instead - it'll be cheaper than the DL4 ( I picked one up last year for about 69) and has a lot of the same features as the DL4....

In the future, getting the frets dressed will probably be a better option that getting an entirely new neck. With a new neck you might find it doesn't quite fit the same as the one you are replacing....

It may be that the tone pots you have a "logarithmic" rather than "linear" - try getting some replacment linear pots to see if they make a difference to the sweep.
