Since we're somewhat on the subject of the QR's cleans, FWIW I find that a 12at7 in V1 (or 5751 for that matter) greatly improves the quality of the clean channel, without affecting the OD channel....

JJs are great tubes, but as good as they sound, they can't quite match up to the classic Mullards, Amperexes, Telefunkens, RCAs, etc etc. Of course, you can sink tons of cash into those brands...

I've always used pencil lead on my bridge saddles, and I just recently started using lead on the nut on one of my guitars that was pretty unstable as far as tuning, and it really made a...

Hey Jenny, just an update on this deal. It's been a few days now, but I tried your advice and lubricated the string contact points at the nut on this guitar. As it turns out my problem with the...

I always use some pencil lead on the saddles when I restring, but I've never tried it on the nut. I'll give that a shot when I restring it.

It's a fairly new guitar, about 2 years old now. Maybe the...

Small Blocks don't have the upper-mid spike that V30s do, so they're not as harsh by themselves. Right now I'm using a Small Block/V30 x pattern in my 412. The low end stays tight but still has some...

You say you're wanting to mix 6CA7s and KT88s? Is it safe to mix different types of power tubes like this in your amp? I don't know much about Bugera's power section, but it would seem to me that...

Flux'd - Of course I 2nd 311's motion to put JJs in, but I'd be very interested in how those American Tung-Sols sound. At one point I had a '59 RCA long plate in V3 and it sounded killer.
