The cover tucks into a channel in the body along...

The cover tucks into a channel in the body along the edge of the cavity. That way the covers are held in by only 2 screws and the wood lip along the inner edge. Hope that makes sense.

The jigs are for the pin router (setup with an oversized pin/undersized bit) and hold the knobs in place for drilling and recessing so that the top knobs sit snugly on the bottom knobs.

Thank you all! Our knobs don't use set screws, just slightly undersized holes. I double-checked sizes and we use 3/4" knobs for standard knobs and 3/4" over 1" for stacked knob...
