Looking through a few of the reviews, one guy mentions taking them out, so I'd assume yes they're removable. Pop out probably means they'll just pull out when you need them to as well.

are you sure the string isn't just slipping? if the post on the tuner is still going no matter what then youre set, just need a little more string. Otherwise just replace it.

take a multimeter, set it to dc, probe points from the transformer and find two with close to 9 or 12 volts coming off them. Hook them up to the lights and see if they blow up your amp or not. :D

Lots of switches have some play in them. Cheaper guitars will have cheaper parts and more wiggle as well. Just swap it out with a new one. Gibson would be easiest to just grab but odds are anything...

Make sure you've connected all the right wires. You shouldn't need 5 leads, 3 would be a lot less confusing and more efficient. 5 would be if you were connecting straight into headphone wires.
