The RG would keep tension on lower tunings...

The RG would keep tension on lower tunings better, but the difference isn't really that big. You can do it with all three with the right strings.

Fat 50's will give you a chunkier fuzz, the 57/62's will give your a thinner, but more saturated fuzz. The difference won't be night and day, but more nuanced.

Any gig bag does the job. Gator has a warranty on theirs that will cover damages to your guitar if it's due to a manufacturer failure of the bag/case. Gator kicks butt like that.
