You may be better off getting a used X Series (or higher). Guitar Center Used has one with a Floyd (of some sort) for $350 with a case. You may want to look into that one...

Both have fast necks and when I grew up it was Jackson or BC Rich. Jackson is still top notch but I would not expect too quality from the JS series.

Used Peavey JSX would also do you pretty well and you could get the head and a Mesa 212 cab for about budget depending on the deals....
