Mick, I'd have a look at the Peavey Classic. I'd avoid the 212 version purely because it's heavy as shit. The 112 will easily be loud enough for gigs.

I'd always put any delay/reverb unit after anything that compresses the sound, so I like it at the end of the chain in the FX...

I'd look at a JCM 900 2500. Has enough gain for solo boosts etc. Cleans arn't 100% crystal clear but it depends what you are looking for.

This demo gives a good example of cleans and a hard rock...

You can get a used 112 on ebay for 100-150. Covers all genre's to a good standard and gives you a bit of cash to buy an OD pedal (works wonders)
