I love the Duncan Distortion, and similar high-output ceramic pickups (Tremonti, 500T, etc...). They always sound killer going into Rectifiers and other modern high-gain amps.

In all my years of...

According to MusiciansFriend, Laguna LE200's are 25.5" scale. Plenty of blues players (Stevie Ray Vaughan comes to mind) played huge strings on their guitars in E and Eb, but they certainly had those...

Epiphones are crap... COMPARED to Gibson. For guitars under $600 though, they're not bad. They serve as great slates for upgrading.

Play some in the store and see if they're comfy to your...

Even as a Gibson lover, among those choices I'd have to say go with the LTD.

Epiphones may look more like your typical Les Paul, but IMHO they feel plastic-like and sound muffled. Even a low end...

I got to play an SE, S2, and USA Custom 24 side by side last week in the store.

I liked the S2, I just didn't feel like it was so much better than the SE that it would justify being double the cost....

No amp at the moment but I do play through plugins such as Revalver and Poulin. Not planning on getting an amp til I'm back into live playing.

But I do enjoy playing my electric guitars acoustically.

Duncan Distortion would work great for a more striking, modern sound from the bridge. I had one and it was great for pulling off modern rock/alternative metal. I'd pair it with a '59 or Jazz in the...

I think you're making the right choice. If you got the Epiphone, you may (or may not) have a decent guitar, but you're always going to have that itch for the Gibson, and you'll be $200 further from...

I ask because I thought that Studios from that era only came in black, white, or transparent red, so I'd question the age of the guitar. But I could be totally wrong on that.

1.14 Dunlop Black Fang. To me, they feel like a great midpoint between the sharpness of a Jazz III and the fullness of a standard sized pick. Equally great for soloing and rhythm.

For Alter Bridge, the Tremonti pickups should be a no-brainer. As a huge Mark Tremonti fan, I think the Duncan Distortion is also perfect for the job. Perhaps it would pair well with a Duncan Jazz.

Dunlop James Hetfield Black Fang. To me it feels like the mid-point between the 'fullness' of a standard sized pick and the sharp attack of a Jazz III. Really the best of both worlds.
