I would rephrase "I just want to live my life". Not only does it sound a bit cliché, it also sounds like filler. And you really don't want that in a chorus.

If there are barre chords in it, try transposing it to G major, E minor or A minor (UG does it automatically). Might do the trick in less harmonically complex songs.

For me, I'd say electric guitar is nicer to play with other people (it almost begs for bass and drums), but acoustic is nicer to play alone.

Now that you mention it, it used to be slow in my old computer as well. I think it's manageable. I wasn't used to speeding up in VBA though, because at first I always felt tempted to speed everything...
