Ok so it seems like the best idea is going to be to fill it? If I screw a piece of alder in and then use filler then fit the bridge after that, do you think this will hold the pull of the strings?

It's a good question, but I have honestly never used a neck pickup. I just like the simplicity of just one pickup and a volume pot.

Fully analogue recording

We recently recorded an EP, using only analogue recording, the only computer in the process was to get them to digital in the the end, we recorded everything live as simply as we could.

Yeah, you are blatantly right, the vocals in the studio were recorded with an insane neuman condenser mic, probably about 2 grand new. sounds too polished.
