Grover tuners. My brother's SG fell (and he blamed me for it), and they use a specific Grover tuner. They'll all say "Gibson" on them and it'll look weird up close but they're the same thing.

Start listening to things you normally wouldn't, and try playing along. Listen to some jazz, classical, funk, what have you. I do that sometimes with funk stuff to get a taste of something different.
