Bands can use literally hundreds of amplifiers throughout their careers. It's impossible to pin their sound to one specific amp and be done with it. I wouldn't say you were wrong....

Once you get the rear panel off (5 screws) you remove the little retainer shield for the preamp tubes. They're the smaller tubes....

If new, you can get a 5150 III 50 watt. It will do modern metal and get you nice clean tones.

Even cheaper if you look for a used 5150 III....
