I have a very limited vocal range as well, more so for the high notes though, I can go pretty low. I use the capo in combination with singing an octave lower if necessary.

Its not really about volume for me. For the most part I play my electric at about the same volume as my acoustic. I just like the electric for the fuzz, reverb and delay.

I have DG-20s in my Strat. I love them, tonnes of tonal options. Great variety of clean sounds. Still does blues, jazz, all kinds of rock. They handle high gain great too.

I believe it was half a step down. The same chords as in the original just down half a step. For the chorus I remember doing 3 guitars, 1 doing barres, 1 open and 1 power chords.

Although they are active single coils I think EMG DG-20s would be a good choice. I have them in my Strat. They are great for Prog rock, large variety of tones from clean to heavy.
