If it's over 1 or 2 years ago, I would change out the power tubes.

Bad power tubes have many different symptoms, this may be one of them.

Just recently though I bought a 1978 Marshall 2104 (2204 in combo), and the Classic 50 just sounds horrible...

C23 is a 100uf electrolytic cap, 16v.
You also might want to check and reflow solder to all of the other parts on the board, it could've been caused by that.

And it's going to take a looong time for your guitar to wear out like that, its got a quite thick poly finish.
