Among those, I'd say the Rectifier and a tube screamer should be able to cover the grounds youll need.

For what it's worth, I'm also a bedroom player who covers a lot of ground, but is restrained by...

1.14 Dunlop Black Fang. To me, they feel like a great midpoint between the sharpness of a Jazz III and the fullness of a standard sized pick. Equally great for soloing and rhythm.

81 in the bridge should do great. For Metallica it's a no-brainer, and it can certainly pull off Maiden. I have one in my guitar and it sounds perfect for distorted tones. That pickup is standard...

500T sounds awesome. It does also sound identical to a Seymour Duncan Distortion, so if you want more options (color or cover) you could go with that too.

Guitar sounds muddy

The guitar I'm talking about is a PRS Standard with Dragon II humbuckers. I put it away for about a month and a half while I enjoyed a different guitar. I've been playing with it again for about a...

Dunlop James Hetfield Black Fang. To me it feels like the mid-point between the 'fullness' of a standard sized pick and the sharp attack of a Jazz III. Really the best of both worlds.

MrFlibble basically covered it. Jim Root uses it, and it's close enough to a Marshall sound that you should have no problem with Maiden.

Works well for The Chappers...

Jim and Mick from Slipknot use 11-58's for Drop B on 25.5" scale guitars. So basically, a 7 string set of 11's with the 6th string tossed out.
