+1 for the vt80! Imo the Valvetronix series is the best of the modeling amps, though there's not much difference between 'em all. If you play metal, you may wanna go with the Valvestate, or a Peavey...

I use a 20w amp in an urban apartment, I just use a boost pedal to bring the volume down. Sure its not the same as a cranked amp, but I get a pretty good, still responsive tone at tv volume. No need...

I had the es339 Ultra for a bit, its a very nice guitar, I'd say go for it. Does the p90 model still have the ring mounted tuner? I loved the pup ring mounted tuner!

Strats are very common for a good reason and an added bonus is, if you buy a good, used Fender Strat at a good price and take care of it, it's probably not gonna lose value. So if you go to upgrade,...

I'm no authority on acoustics but a friend just got a J45 and it is an extremely disappointing guitar, imo. I'm not a Gibson hater but imo it has nothing on some acoustics at a tenth of the price. I...

I really dig that Valveking 20 head, I think it'd work well for you. If I were in the market for an amp right now I would probably go with the Valveking 20.

I don't know about the Haze but I'm a fan of the Class 5, its a killer lil amp. Just throw an od pedal in front to control the volume.

Does it have to be "hybrid"? If not, you could probably get a used Epi Valve Jr, a Boss SD1 and a used Zoom G3/Line 6 M5 for less than $300, just as an example.

Check out the ehx Soul Food too. It's probably my favorite boost, very transparent but it has the tone tightening characteristic of a tubescreamer type pedal.

Yup, in order to play the same notes as standard tunning power chord you have to play it 2 frets up...thus one finger power chords. At least I think thats what you're talking about.

Tune your low e string down to d. If its something off In Utero you'll wanna tune down a half step too. It doesn't sound right unless you're a half step down on your tuning.

The lil Danelectro Honeytone amps are pretty cool for $20 but I think the mini3 has more features. I'd say go for it. If you do get it, you should do a NAD with clips, I'd read it outta curiosity.

^^^ Then why are you asking ug?

Haha, tough crowd. I agree with them though, they really aren't worth rating. You could probably get $40-$60 each for 'em though. Put that money towards a decent amp.

Excluding metal, pointy guitars and "high gain" amps, I started out with a cheap strat and Fender amp, ran the gauntlet and have come back around to Fender (or at least Fender inspired).
