Don't use vinyl if your body has a nitro cellulose finish. It reacts with the finish and eats a big hole in the finish.

I'm not sure, but I don't think you can make a pitch shifter with analogue circuity. The digitech whammy is all digital anyway.

It might be cheaper just to buy one.

If its got a thick coat of poly on there, I'd probably scrape that off before going to sandpaper using a cabinet scraper. Keeps the wood in good shape, but is quicker and doesn't make as much...
