Singing high notes quietly

Is there any way to do this, or does singing high always come with an increase in volume?

I don't want to piss off my neighbours, but I will if I have to.

I think your voice suits the song really well.

Try working on the end parts of each line. For example when you sing 'I can still remember' that 'remember' sounds kind of breathless and off pitch....

Sounds good man. How do you know if your neighbours can even hear you though? Unless you leave all your windows open or live in an apartment building I don't think they'd hear much. Granted, even I...

Well I guess I usually sing, or try to sing, after I wake up. I should probably occupy myself with other things during that time instead of struggling for ages to get my voice to do what I want.

So it takes me ages to warm up, will this get better with time?

I'm talking like 40 minutes to an hour of exercises and scales to get comfortable enough to sing with my entire range. Will my voice get better at this the more I sing? It's especially bad after I...

Oh yeah I remember reading your lessons.

okay some things I've been meaning to get clarified for a while.

When you sing high are you meant to be doing anything differently than when you sing low? I...

Kind of worried about vocal nodules.

Okay so about 8 months ago when I started singing I had terrible technique. I'm not even sure if you could call it technique: singing from my throat, shouting to reach high notes, making myself...

Awesome, yeah that makes a lot of sense. I never thought to figure out where my chest voice breaks into head voice. I'll give this a shot next time I sing. Thanks.

Oh yeah I see what you're saying. That could be the case, when I sing it half a step down I'm pretty sure I'm using head voice though. I just don't understand why the half step jump is so difficult...

How come I can hit higher notes in some songs than in others?

Alright so I can hit the high note in the chorus to this song (the 'make' bit) pretty easily

but when I tried singing the chorus to Iris by the...

Thanks for the reply.

When you say to allow your voice to resonate in the nasal cavity what's it meant to feel like? Closing my mouth and doing the hmmm thing it feels like my nose is vibrating a...

About Chest + Head voice usage

Alright so I've only been singing for around half a year and recently I've been trying to get down the chorus to Iris by the goo goo dolls. I can hit the notes fine, but it sounds really chesty and...

Highest note I can comfortably hit is 7th fret, high E string on a standard tuned guitar. I think that's B4? I can manage the note above that but it doesn't sound as good yet.
Lowest is somewhere...

Lol, ignore that guy. I think you did a great job. I wish I could offer some kind of constructive criticism but I'm not much of a vocalist.

About the difference between vocal types

I read somewhere that your vocal 'type' (bass, baritone, tenor etc.) is determined more by the timbre of your voice than your actual range. For example, you could be a baritone but hit notes in the...
