I was playing my guitar to day on a les paul and I touched the pickup and noticed the sound cut out then came back on, but when i touch or move the pick up it cuts the sound out any ideas why?

I got the fret wire off eBay it said it was dunlop and it came in a small coil rolled pack and to be honest I am not an expert on how fret wire should be but I noticed some out of shaped parts...

I think what could be a problem is if i do need to make the fret slot deeper finding a tool that with cut the slot, and i cant just use a saw as the guitar has biinding.
