Primer for new body?

I've been trying to find out what an appropriate primer would be for automotive flip flop paint applied to a fresh alder body. I've read that B.I.N. is a good sand-able primer, but don't know if it...

You're probably right. I'd just like to keep the cost down. But a fret job would be $200+ and who knows how much for a new fret board. That's about the price of a new Warmoth neck.

Damn.

I'm not concerned about resale value. This would just be a fun project. If I can get it to sound good, that would be great.

I want to build a copy of SRV's "Charley" guitar. I don't know why, since I'm not a big fan of white guitars. Just something I have an itch to do.

Thanks for the replies. I'll consider Warmoth for a body, but they're pricey for a neck. Nearly $500 with ebony and frets. If their frets need to be finished, I might as well take a neck I have and...

Warmoth parts?

I'm toying with the idea of building my own Strat. I've been looking at various bodies and necks, and noticed that Warmoth just about builds to order.

How's their quality?

Take a look at some very early video (film) of the Rolling Stones. Keith played an ES-335 a lot more often then, and he wore it almost at neck height.
