There is no reason why that guitar would not be suitable for both punk and metal. RGD serie is just longer scale which makes it more suitable for tuning down and that is more common in metal and such...

I like X2N too. Very high output and crunchy sound. Just keep it quite far from the strings due to the strong magnets and of course due to the high output that can turn sound to inarticulate mush.
